File Under: Designer Bathroom Products

According to this week's Maclean's magazine, this urinal design (titled "Kisses!"), manufactured by Bathroom Mania! is being removed from a McDonald's restaurant in the Netherlands after American tourists complained. See more of "the sexy urinal" here.

Man + Machine = Art

This is a demo of the monome, a "reconfigurable grid of sixty-four backlit buttons." Rather than reading a convoluted explanation of MIDI mapping, just watch the video. Fun fun fun.

My brain nearly leaked out of my ears when I read this. You may have already read it, but if you haven't, you should.

I am very excited.

man G-Zilla can sure drop the science...

God bless those out-of-it curmudgeons at Pitchfork (or P4K as I've now seen them write self-referentially). Sometimes they get things right and with their Overlooked Records 2006 "Year In Half Review" feature at the moment they hit the nail on the head with the Voxtrot's Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives (pictured at right). At the station we get a lot of new music and sometimes it's hard to sift through it all and I'll admit that I didn't give this Austin, TX band a listen when it came in in April. But the folks at Pitchfork said it was "full of deft arrangments and charming melodies that evoke Belle & Sebastian, Morrissey, and the Lucksmiths." So i pulled it out of the library and gave it a listen and I'm digging it immensely.
So kudos to you forkers, you prompted me to give Voxtrot a shot. I suggest others do the same.

FUTEBOL!!!

Check these out...

Adidas has promotional trading cards for the "+10" campaign, and lucky me, I found a handful of them on the ground at the Wilco show at the Walker on Canada Day. I found a page about the cards here but unfortunately it's in Italian.
If you haven't seen the wicked plus +10 ad series yet, go to youtube and check 'em out.

Also, I must mention that FIFA's "Matchcast" is just about the best substitute for actually watching the games if you're ostensibly 'working.' Link up here.
